MY MONITOR IS BLACK / BLANK

METHOD 1:

You've plugged your HDMI / DisplayPort cable into your motherboard and not your graphics card. The motherboard is the section at the back of the PC where you'll find your USB ports and ethernet port - if you look lower down you'll find 2-4 video ports (usually 3 x DisplayPort and 1 x HDMI) running horizontally, this is your graphics card. Shut down the PC, move the video cable to the graphics card, then power it up.

METHOD 2:

You've slightly pulled out your graphics card when removing the protective foam inside your PC. Look along the top of the graphics card and you should see where it meets the motherboard, make sure the graphics card is sitting flush against the motherboard. If not, turn the computer off and gently push the graphics card back into its slot, then try to boot it up again.

METHOD 3:

You've got a faulty cable or monitor. Whilst this is rare, it's easy to troubleshoot by plugging in another device to the monitor using the same cable.
